Terms of Service

Last updated:

These terms govern your use of the Fanous app and the fanous.world website. By using the service, you agree to them.

Fanous is operated by Anas Bourani, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Fanous account or using the service in any way, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms, and to the Privacy Policy, which forms part of them.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

Who may use Fanous

You must be an adult and legally able to enter into contracts in order to open a Fanous account.

Fanous is made for children, but the account is held by a parent or guardian. You are responsible for your children’s use of the service, for the child profiles you create, and for the content entered through your account.

Children should use the app under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that takes place through your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

You agree to provide accurate details when you register, and to keep them up to date.

Accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred to anyone else.

Subscriptions, credits and payments

Some Fanous features require a paid subscription. All purchases are processed through the App Store and charged to your Apple account on confirmation of purchase. We never receive or store your card details.

Your subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store settings.

A subscription grants credits for creating content (page credits and character credits). Credits are consumed when a generation succeeds, and returned to you if it fails or is cancelled.

  • Credits expire at the end of the period they were granted for, and are replenished when the subscription renews.
  • Credits are tied to your account, cannot be transferred to another account, and have no cash value.
  • Cancelling stops future renewals and does not refund the current period.

Refund requests are governed by Apple’s policy and must be made to Apple directly, as Apple is the party that processes payment. We can help you get in touch, but we cannot issue the refund ourselves.

We may change subscription prices or contents in future, and will notify you before any change applies to your renewal.

The content you create

You keep your rights in the material you upload (such as photos) and in the story ideas you write.

To operate the service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, modify and display that material, and to send it to the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy in order to generate what you asked for.

This licence includes publishing the resulting story as a public music video on the Fanous YouTube channel. When a story that includes a song completes, it is published automatically, as described in "Content that is published publicly" in the Privacy Policy. If you do not want this, do not create stories with songs, and contact us to remove anything already published.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that you have the consent of every person appearing in any photo you provide.

You may use the resulting stories, images and songs for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

AI-generated content

Fanous content is generated automatically by artificial-intelligence models. Although we screen content automatically for safety and child-appropriateness, we do not guarantee that it is accurate, free of errors, or wholly original.

Models may produce content similar to content generated for other users. Generated content is not a reliable educational source and should not be relied on as fact.

We recommend that a parent or guardian reviews a story before showing it to a child. If you come across inappropriate content, please report it using the reporting option in the app.

Acceptable use

When using Fanous, you agree not to:

  • Request or create content that is unlawful, abusive, violent, sexual, hateful, or otherwise unsuitable for children.
  • Upload a photo of a person without their permission, or a photo you do not hold the rights to.
  • Impersonate anyone, or claim an affiliation you do not have.
  • Attempt to breach or disrupt the service, circumvent usage limits, or access other users’ data.
  • Use the service in an automated way, or extract its content in bulk, without our written permission.
  • Use the service for any commercial purpose without an agreement with us.

Moderation and reporting

You can report any story from inside the app via the "More" menu and then "Report story". We review reports and take appropriate action.

We may review any content and remove it or change its visibility if it breaches these terms or poses a risk to users — without prior notice where necessary.

We may suspend or restrict an account where breaches are repeated.

Ending your account or the service

You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or email us to request complete deletion of your data.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if it is necessary to protect the service or its users, or if the law requires it.

When an account ends, your access to the service and to any remaining credits stops, without refund. Please see the Privacy Policy for what is and is not deleted afterwards.

We may discontinue the service or any feature of it in future, and will give subscribers reasonable notice beforehand.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or freedom from error.

We do not warrant that the service will be continuously available, that generated content will be error-free, or that it will be suitable for every child or every culture.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, nor for loss of data or profits arising from your use of the service.

In any case, our total liability to you will not exceed the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page, and we will notify you if a change is significant. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
